Fall King Mackerel Showing Up

A breezy overcast afternoon trip produced a nice 10 pound King Mackerel for this young angler while fishing aboard the Lady K this week. Schools of King Mackerel have been showing up almost everyday, it’s just a matter of which trip they’ll be feeding on? The Kings are being sighted “sky-rocketing” from the water under schools of baitfish and are being caught by anglers fishing with sardines or ballyhoo.

The Lady K runs three trips daily. During the 8am – 12pm trips snapper (yellow-tail, mutton and vermillion) have dominated the bite along with king mackerel, triggerfish, porgies and jacks. Our 1pm – 5pm trips have been carrying light passenger numbers with catches of yellow-tail snapper, small grouper, jacks, barracuda, king mackerel, spanish mackerel and a few Hammerhead shark sightings. Night trips have been producing small “snapper” blues and ribbonfish.
