The end of July continued to bring a few nice Black-fin Tuna aboard the Lady K for anglers lucky enough to elude the False Albacore onslaughts during the morning and evening trips. The Black-fin Tuna continue to roam around the area reefs with most of the fish averaging in the eight pound range. Nothing beats fresh grilled tuna for an end of summer barbecue.
The evening trips have been seeing some nice King Mackerel and Snapper action as the full moon approached earlier in the week. Anglers fishing long lines and softly jigging their baits have been the most successful.
VIP angler Johnathan used a vertical jig to subdue this beautiful Yellow Jack as the sun began setting on a recent evening trip. Yellow Jack are very good table fare and are commonly caught around reefs, ledges and wrecks on both artificial and drifted baits.
Anglers have also been catching Great Barracuda, Yellow-tail Snapper, Mutton Snapper, Mangrove Snapper and an occasional Sailfish during any of the Lady K’s three daily trips. With the summer nearing its end, now is the perfect time to get some quality time with the family before the school year begins.
