Lady K crew member Dave checks the weight of a beautiful Gag Grouper after returning from a recent trip at the end of 2012. As we shift into 2013, shallow water grouper and vermillion snapper season will be closed. Vermillion will reopen on April 1st, 2013 and shallow water grouper will reopen on May 1st 2013. During the winter months anglers can look for winter time king mackerel, early african pompano, winter cobia, mahi mahi, triggerfish, porgies and sailfish action.
Night fishing has also been producing some nice lane snapper, mangrove snapper, banded rudderfish and an occasional cobia action. Anglers should dress in layers when fishing offshore during the winter time. The Lady K does offer a large cabin to help anglers take a break from the elements  whenever necessary. Bottom fishing will be very productive this winter offering anglers the opportunity to catch fish like porgies, gray triggerfish, cobia, snapper, grunts, jacks and maybe an african pompano, not to mention an assortment of tropical reef fish.
