VIP angler Lee bagged a limit of King Mackerel and a 48 pound Cobia while fishing during a morning trip near the end of May. He caught the cobia using a 12 pound spinning outfit while fishing for Yellow-tail Snapper. Another impressive catch Lee, keep up the good work!

Lady K mate Jeff gives a hand to help a junior angler display a nice Black-fin Tuna caught during a rainy May afternoon. Now is the time for anglers to try their luck at landing one of these hard fighting fish.

Night time anglers caught these nice King Mackerel and VIP angler Fredd was very happy to bring home a 49 pound Cobia caught on the 1st of June. There have been quite a few large fish hooked during the evening trips but beware of the hungry sharks looking to make an easy meal of your catch.

Another afternoon trip produced Cobia, King Mackerel, Yellow-tail Snapper and other bottom fish. The smiles say it all!

A June morning trip with Black-fin Tuna, King Mackerel and Cobia being the heavyweights of the trip. Other anglers also bagged Vermillion Snapper, Red Porgies and Gray Triggerfish.

With the summer heat preparing to come on full force, night fishing is the coolest trip and with the evening trip leaving at 6:30 pm, it makes fishing convenient for anglers after working all day.

Tickets are sold in the new marina store, Bar Jack’s Fish Tales, your one stop shop for everything you will need while on your four-hour offshore excursion aboard the Lady K. Anglers can even have their catch cooked for lunch at the Kona Bay Cafe after a morning filled with sunshine and fresh ocean air. This beautiful Marbled Grouper was safety vented and released (above) after a quick photograph during a cold March morning trip due to the shallow water grouper closed season. The season will reopen for all shallow water grouper beginning on May 1st of 2013, only a month away.

Cobia began showing up near the end of March and continue to move through the area through April, May and into June. Cobia can be caught on any of the Lady K’s three daily trips.

King Mackerel have been scattered along the coast with fish up to 30 pounds being caught by anglers drifting sardines, goggle-eyes or threadfin herring around deep drop offs and area reefs. This King was caught during an afternoon trip on an overcast March afternoon.

April 1st marked the opening of the Vermillion Snapper season and anglers give a big thumbs up after catching some for dinner. Gray Triggerfish, Red Porgy, Whitebone Porgy and a few Little Tunny also continue to bite the baits. Lighter winds during the morning trips can bring greater success to anglers hoping the land some of the tasty fish.

This nice Cobia was taken during an April afternoon trip and will make a tasty dinner for days to come.

DSCF0046Captain B holds up a 25 pound King Mackerel landed by VIP angler Charlie which was caught on light tackle. The fish made some sizzling runs before succumbing to the gaff. Other anglers also caught King Mackerel up to 10 pounds, Porgies, Vermillion Snapper, and released some under-sized cobia. A fun time was had by all.

The Lady K sails three times daily and our price includes everything you will for a half day of deep sea drift fishing. Just bring your¬†favorite beverage, some snacks and little sunscreen and enjoy the day.
